SVR’s Dionne Levesque with The Honourable Nate Glubish, Minister of Service Alberta at the announcement of the condominium regulations.

The Honourable Nate Glubish, Minister of Service Alberta, announced changes to the Condominium Property Regulation that will come into effect on January 1, 2020. The full regulation, along with associated sections of the Condominium Property Amendment Act, 2014, will come into force on this date.

Our understanding is that these changes will reduce the additional burdens that the amendments will put on condominium owners, boards, and others in the condominium sector. Changes include the disclosure of information and how annual general meetings are organized, sanctions and fines, fees for documents, and the qualifications for those who conduct reserve fund studies.

We will post the actual Regulations when they are available, along with commentary and analysis on the impact of the changes for condominium corporations.
